The Arts

The Lutheran School of Saint Luke’s curriculum-based arts program is designed to expose our students to various creative disciplines, including fine arts, music and theatre. We value the powerful impact of creative studies on the development of each student.

Visual Arts

Saint Luke School Art is for all students Grades K-8. Our Fine Arts Program has concentrations in fields such as Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, and Media Arts. Every student actively learns and creates in these areas of artistic discipline.

Music

Music is an important part of our Lutheran Day School curriculum. All students in grades Preschool through 8th grade receive classroom music instruction in which they experience all aspects of music: vocal, instrumental, movement, and sing in a choir or ensemble. Children make beautiful music, and at Saint Luke, we encourage them to “Make music to the Lord!” (Psalm 96:13)

Drama

In addition to participating in the worship life of the congregation, all choirs and handbells perform “on stage” in the spring, as we showcase fine arts at Saint Luke for our Grandparents’ Day celebration. The highlight of the program is the performance of the yearly operetta. All students in 1st -8th grades make up the chorus for the operetta, with upper grade students auditioning for acting and solo roles. Opportunities abound for exploring the technical side of the production as well. Students are encouraged to participate in set construction, and help with costumes, props, makeup and many other areas.
